Obama Lies to a Rape Survivor; Says You’re Safer Without a Gun

January 17, 2016

Corban and Obama

Kimberly Corban spoke at President Obama’s Town Hall on Guns. Kimberly said this to the president.

I survived rape. Now I’m a mom. Carrying a gun to protect me and my family is my responsibility. Your restrictions make it harder for me to buy a gun and carry it where I need to.

President Obama disagreed.

Kimberly knew she wouldn’t change the president’s mind, but she hoped he would at least listen to her. While I think the president lied at least six times in his answer to Misses Corban, I want to focus on one thing President Obama said.

He said-

..there are a few times when somebody with a weapon protected themselves.. but what is more likely in an attack is that the victim is attacked with their own gun.

The president lied.  That isn’t my opinion. It is a fact.  The US Department of Justice looked at sexual assault in 26 US cities. They found that a disarmed sexual assault victim is 10 times more likely to be raped than a woman who uses a gun to defend herself. I’m sorry, but you can’t squint your eyes and say a ten to one difference is the same, or even slightly opposite.  It isn’t close.  The president told us what he wishes rather than what is true. Also, the president lied because the news media would never check his facts and disagree with him.

Think about it for a minute.  Does it make sense that a gun is so dangerous that the best thing we could do is give a criminal a gun so that a crime victim or a cop could then take that gun from the criminal?  The thought that a firearm is a greater danger to the victim than the criminal is absurd.  Shame on President Obama for insulting us with an obvious lie, and shame on Anderson Cooper for letting this obvious lie stand unchallenged.

I cover examples of self-defense every week.  An armed criminal is more likely to lose their firearm in the commission of a crime than is an armed homeowner using their gun for self-defense.  President Obama can have his own opinion but he can’t have his own facts.

Friends of mine were raped.  I won’t let Obama’s lies stand unchallenged.  Sexual assault is too important to let Obama’s political posturing put young women at risk.  I knew the president lied sometimes based on his earlier record.  Now I wonder if President Obama can ever tell the truth.

What do you think?

Right on. I have not heard much from this President more tone-deaf and offensive than what he said to her. In essence he told her, “I know you got raped, but if you had a gun, you could have gotten hurt.” Raped IS hurt, you jerk.

(edit) lies if he knows truth and lies worse when he guesses and pontificates.

It escapes Obama, but to most its a self evident truth, that if you see Obama speak he is lying.

It’s strange how a woman’s fear of being raped or sexually assaulted is NEVER a justification for carrying a gun for self-defense, in the view of gun-grabbers.

But they use that same fear of rape as justification for abortion laws.
