Media-Speak in the Gun Control Debate

The double-speak about gun prohibition gives me a headache.  Are politicians and the main stream media so stupid they actually believe what they’re saying, or do they think we’re so dumb we believe them?  I’m tired of it either way.  There is one benefit from their lying; that much stupid in one place is easy to mock.  I submit this bit of sarcasm as second amendment self-defense. (1)

We know strict gun laws keep guns from criminals because police in New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Detroit and Chicago hardly need guns.

Though it was invented back in 1891, any self-loading firearm is now a “high capacity military style weapon” and a “gun of unprecedented lethality”.. which is why your local police need them and you don’t.

Most people can’t be trusted.  That is why we need gun laws.. which criminals will obey because criminals can be trusted.
.

“Assault weapons” have no purpose other than to indiscriminately kill lots of people.  Therefore, the police need “assault weapons”.. and honest citizens shouldn’t have them.

In spite of our present waiting periods, background checks, fingerprints, and registration forms, we’re told it is now too easy to get guns and that is why we have school shootings.   Yet in the 1940′s, 1950′s and 1960′s when anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, and through the Sears Roebuck mail order catalog with no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms.. back then there were no school shootings.

That is why modern society obviously has a gun problem rather than a people problem.

We civilians need to give up our guns because we’re safer when we’re helpless.

The NRA’s child safety “don’t touch” campaign is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby’s attempt to run a “don’t touch” campaign is responsible social activism.

Police work in teams, which is why they need large capacity magazines while “civilians” who face criminals alone need less ammunition.

Guns are too complicated and lethal for civilians to own, but a criminal shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry, take the gun and kill you.

Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows and NRA conventions.

Guns are so dangerous and unpredictable that every gun owner puts himself and his family at risk simply by having a gun in their home.. which is why we have to keep guns away from criminals.

The public doesn’t need a gun for self-protection because the police are there to protect them.. which is why celebrities and politicians have off duty police as private security whenever they go out in public.

Trigger locks don’t interfere with the ability to use a gun for self-defense, which is why you see police officers refuse to put trigger locks on their weapons.

We know we will be safer once we impose new gun laws that would not have stopped any of the mass murders in the last 5 years.

Idiots.
