Mass Murder at a High School in Oxford township, Michigan

December 1, 2021

What we know about this event today-

A 15 year old student walked into a high school in Oxford Township, Michigan. He brought his father’s handgun on campus and shot 11 people. Three of them have died so far. Oxford is a town of about 20 thousand, and is about 50 miles north of Detroit. The police received numerous 911 calls as soon as the shooting started. The attack was reported to have gone on for over 5 minutes. The murderer stayed at the scene to be captured by the police. He still had ammunition is his gun when he was captured. There are no reports of the murderer being injured by the police.

What we know from prior events-

  • The murderer violated scores of gun-control laws. The murderer didn’t have permits to carry in public, nor to transport the firearm. The school is a “gun free” zone, but murderers are not stopped by ink on paper.
  • Many victims are injured during the first minute of an attack. After that, people run and lock their doors. Victims are harder for the murderer to find and kill. Seconds count.
  • The murderer behaved in an odd manner for a long period before the attack. The teachers know.
  • The murderer told someone about the attack before it happened. Probably several people, either face-to-face or online.
  • Mass murderers are often psychopathic narcissists. That means they don’t have close friends or a conscience, they are not frightened, and they crave attention. These murderers don’t mind dying, but they hated living unrecognized.
  • Today, the murderer is desperate to find out what the media is saying about him. He is asking his jailers, his lawyer, and his parents, “Can I have a TV in my cell? Can I have my phone back and can I surf the web? What are they saying about me?”

Watch the evidence for yourself. Watch the media coverage of this event. Ask yourself how many disordered people in our society today would kill in order to receive days of breathless publicity? Those stories are the hundred-million-dollar marketing campaign that creates the next mass murderer. The solution is simple; don’t mention the murderer’s name and don’t show his picture.

Murderers stand out. They were not in band, not in choir, and not on sports teams where your mission is to work together and help someone else succeed. These murderers don’t take their lumps and then get up and try again. They often retreat to a virtual world online where they are insulated from failure, a world where they can’t lose.

They can lose. We can stop them. We can deny them the notoriety they are willing to kill for. We can stop the attacks, treat and transport the injured, all before the scene is declared safe by the police. We know this because we’ve done it. We don’t have to wait an hour until the police unlock and look inside every closet. I’m not faulting the police, but it is ridiculous if your safety plan tells you to wait for them.

You can stop them. It is gross negligence if your local school doesn’t have a safety plan. Call your school board and ask them if every school, every building, every bus and ball field, has a safety plan for every minute that students are present. The children deserve that. Ask your school board how often each school practices their emergency plan with police, with emergency medical services, and with the local hospital? How did they perform against an expected response time? Ask the school board if they are willing to let a mass murder go on that long.

Please post this article on your refrigerator so you bring it to the next school board meeting.

We can’t stop the political posturing that follows mass murder, but we can condemn it. Public figures will use this attack to their advantage. They blame their favorite scapegoat, and I’ve seen them blame global warming. Some will blame the gun, though they didn’t blame the car when a murderer deliberately drove his car through a children’s Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin last week.

I find the political grandstanding of politicians and reporters as reprehensible as the murderer’s narcissism. Please call it out when you see it.

Actually they have blamed the car in the Waukesha massacre. Multiple reports from most mainstream media have specifically reported that the massacre was carried out by an SUV. From reading the articles it might even be apparent the SUV was driving itself.
