Common and Uncommon Methods of Murder

This is a partial list of how we kill each other.   I couldn’t list every method.  Still, I found the relative numbers shocking given the media attention on “military style assault weapons”.    The media emphasis is grossly misplaced unless their motive was to sell advertizing rather than to save lives.  The media and gun control politicians are focused on their own agenda and hiding the inconvenient facts, facts that undermine their well rehearsed urgency.

The data is from the FBI crime statistics for 2011 unless referenced. 

• 70,000- died under medical treatment due to preventable errors
• 10,136- drunk drivers and their victims
• 1,694- murder with knives and edge weapons
  
• 853- other weapons or not stated  (cars?)
• 728- personal objects (hands, fists, feet, pushing)
• 496- blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc)
• 323- firearms (rifle, including “assault weapons”)
• 12- drowning

Murder in 2011 was down from 2010 in all categories.  Congratulations.  Keep it up.
