Trouble at the Iowa Democrat Caucuses

February 4, 2020

In theory, there are meetings across the state of Iowa to measure the will of the people local caucuses of Democrat voters. In one election precinct, Senator Sanders started with twice the votes of any other Democratic presidential candidates. He ended in a five-way tie where each candidate got a single delegate.

This is a perfect example of socialism.. and Democratic socialism at that, so why is Sanders and his supporters upset?

The firm hired by the Iowa Democrat party to count the votes is lead by ex-Clinton campaign staffers. The state tally has been halted without giving a date for completion. Was that because the vote was in error, or because the results upset the Democrat political establishment?

The results are unusual.

  • The Des Moines Register preference poll was not published. Sanders was first in the Des Moines Register poll according to inside sources.
  • An entrance poll was taken but the leaders were not specified. Sanders was first in some of the entrance polls.
  • The official results from the caucuses are delayed indefinitely.

I think we can take a lesson from Florida Senator Rick Scott when asked who would win the Super Bowl. The senator said,

“35-24 Kansas City. Thank God the game isn’t being played a few miles north in Broward County, or we’d wake up the next morning, and San Francisco would have a dozen more points than they had the night before.”

Maybe the Socialist wing of the Democrat party learned from Joseph Stalin who said,

“The people who cast the votes don’t decide an election, the people who count the votes do.”

This must be terribly frustrating for loyal Democrats. I hope they can learn from it and demand an honest election. Sadly, the results in Iowa show us the true face of Socialism; there are a set of rules for us and another set of rules for the elites.

The US system of limited government and representative democracy was a way to settle differences without violence and bloodshed. That system is worth preserving, but it depends on the system being seen as fair. Thwarting the will of the people, by either political party, moves us closer to violence.

Please stand up for justice now so we don’t have to stand up later.
