Reasons to Not Get Your Concealed Carry Permit
You’ve finally convinced me. You’re right. You shouldn’t get your concealed carry permit.
We’ve all heard the justifications. I was going to call them bad reasons or excuses, but that is judgemental. I’ll simply present the common justifications for not getting a concealed carry permit, and you decide if they are good reasons or bad.
You don’t need to carry concealed because the police will always be there to protect you.
You don’t need a defensive tool because your significant other will ensure your personal security.
Don’t get your carry permit now. Instead, you should wait for the politicians to pass constitutional carry in your state.
You know other people who break the law and carry without a permit, so you should go ahead and do that too. They say that being a felon isn’t as bad as it used to be.
You don’t want to get on a government list. In fact, you should probably stop giving money to the church, turn all your guns into the police, drop your membership in the NRA and change your political affiliation to Independent.
You’re way too busy to get your permit.
You don’t need a gun because you’d never want to hurt anyone. I mean, your family and friends aren’t really that important to you, are they?
You don’t need a carry permit because you never open your doors or step outside your home.
You should go ahead and be the victim of violent crime rather than pay that nasty old fee for a concealed carry permit.
Besides, you’ve studied the tradeoffs, and a carry permit is way more expensive than health insurance.
You should refuse to defend yourself just so you won’t have to give the government another copy of your fingerprints. There. That showed them who’s the boss.
Don’t get your concealed carry permit just so you can avoid all that paperwork.
Now that you ask, it isn’t the extra 15 pounds you’re carrying around, it is the gun that make you look fat.
Don’t get your concealed carry permit until you buy at least a dozen more guns.
Don’t get your carry permit until your spouse has taken training too.
Maybe you shouldn’t get your permit at all since your spouse doesn’t like guns.
Don’t carry concealed. That way your family doesn’t have to worry if they throw you a surprise party.
You don’t need your carry permit because you live in a safe neighborhood that criminals can’t find.
You don’t want a permit because that way the police will leave you alone.
..And if you believe that, then you probably shouldn’t have your permit.
I gave you 500 words, and fortunately none of them were mine. I hope you laughed as much as I did. What noteworthy excuses justifications have you heard?
Great Comments. Funny too.
“My girlfriend doesn’t like the idea of me carrying a gun”.
For me, that’s the one that takes the cake. I replied-I guess she’s ok with being assaulted while you stand by unable to intervene?

The only reason that I don’t really want a permit is because here in California you’re telling the police and local politicians that you have weapons, where they are, and how many. You just put a target on your back for confiscation if they suddenly decide for no reason that you are a RISK! I don’t want that target on my back. Many years ago when I was a young Lieutenant in the Army, I had a 9mm in my glove compartment because I traveled a lot. It was never a problem. I even took it on an airplane, offered to let the captain hold it, was told it wasn’t necessary. Those were truly the “good old days”.

Does going without your permit make you safer or less safe?
By not getting your permit, you sacrifice the reality of defense for the theory of keeping a low profile from the California government. Doesn’t the government already know you have guns? Is the government less likely to attempt confiscation if you’re armed, or disarmed?

Hi, some people don’t know that when you purchase any weapon legally here in CA, you are not automatically registering that weapon with the State. Local fire arms dealers maintain a copy of your DROS but that’s it. If a weapon is used in a crime, the s/n will show the manufacturer who keeps records of to whom it was sold.. i.e, the local store where you bought it. There is definitely a paper trail, but that’s not the same as registering. In any other State except CA, NY, NJ to name a few, I would do it immediately. In my home State of KY it’s a given. I simply don’t trust ANY liberal politicians out here. Sad but true.
