Judging Open Carry Texas

June 8, 2014

The Texas legislature probably had the votes to pass open carry of handguns.  I say “had”.  Now your opinion of openly carrying rifles in public doesn’t count.. and my opinion of openly carrying rifles in public doesn’t count.  The opinions that count are the opinions of the Texas legislators who will pass open carry.. or not pass it.

That is why I ask this simple question.  Has Open Carry Texas changed the opinions that count by openly carrying rifles in public?  I think they have.  They have made open carry in Texas less likely to pass the legislature.  That is why I now call OCT a bunch of gun grabbers.  I judge OCT by the result of their actions rather than by their intent.

Judge OCT by what they have accomplished.

What I postulated from the outset, Rob. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least to find out that this is a bunch funded by the gun-grabbers…maybe even that moronic ex-NYC mayor.

IF they are not funded that way, their over-zealousness has caused them to shoot themselves in the foot, figuratively.

Why would the legislature suddenly not support gun rights because of gun rights proponents exercising said rights? That makes no sense. “I’m a legislator that is uber pro gun. I’m all in for open carry. Oh crap, people are carrying rifles into restaurants. I suddenly don’t support gun rights.” Does that make sense? No. If legislators don’t pass open carry because others are exercising their rights, they should be voted out of office by gun owners. The logic makes no sense.

Please explain the “logic” behind a bunch of guys walking into a restaurant carrying rifles–not on their shoulders on slings, but in their hands, with magazines obviously in place and their fingers on or near the triggers and then posing for pictures the same way??? What’s “logical” about doing that? To intentionally piss off a bunch of people who don’t share your view of the 2nd Amendment? Why DO anything as inane as that?

Well since the premise of your question is false there is no answer. Back when we DID carry guns into restaurants after getting permission from the owner, we most certainly did NOT carry them in our hands. They were always slung. Next false argument.

Nonsense. Take a look at the pictures that caused this discussion in the first place. Two rednecks standing inside the restaurant holding their AR’s with magazines in them and their fingers on or near the triggers.

“That is why I now call OCT a bunch of gun grabbers.” So people who are out there educating people about the law, calling for constitutional carry, and actually responsible for the debate is now labeled as “gun grabbers”?!

“I judge OCT by the result of their actions rather than by their intent.” Have you personally seen our actions with your own actions? I don’t recall seeing you at any of our rallies. Well, back up your statement. We have an event this Friday at 5pm in San Antonio at the corner of 410 and San Pedro. We also have an event in Irving, Texas Saturday beginning at 11. Come see how “gun grabbing” we really and destroy your own ignorance.
