A Government Too Big to Manage Must be Made Smaller
The government is simply so big that President Obama can’t keep track of all the wrongdoing taking place in his administration. That is what Obama’s former senior adviser, David Axelrod said. “Part of being president is there’s so much beneath you that you can’t know because the government is so vast,” he explained on MSNBC back in May. Alxelrod spoke before the IRS and NSA scandals became public.
Now we really need to help our unfortunate and hardworking president. President Obama, please take it easy. We will make your job easier. We want you to do less, so chill, bro.
For starters, please eliminate the support for banks that are too big to fail. That will make your job smaller. Whew, that is a relief.
Please eliminate the insider support for industry and agriculture. They can stand or fall on their own without government support. They have before.. before you regulated from the oval office rather than the chambers of the legislature. I know, a billion here, a billion there.. and pretty soon you’re talking about some sizable political contributions. More on that later.
Mister President, stop taxing us. We’ll mail in our 13%. We just got rid of most of the IRS, and I know that getting to the bottom of the IRS and DOJ scandals has been a burden on you. I’m glad we could help.
We can get rid of most of HHS now that the economy is growing without your
over regulation help, Mister President.
Since the Department of Energy was started to free us from foreign oil, we can shut them down too. The Obama administration doesn’t seem to like nuclear and coal, so we certainly don’t need the DOE any longer. We already know how to drill for oil and gas without help from the government. Yes, we can sell the building where the DOE used to be.
Let’s eliminate retirement plans for retired politicians and federal workers. They can take risks in the market like the rest of us. Now you know how inflation feels from our side of a 401k plan. You’re welcome.
Stop letting legislators and former legislators indulge in insider trading. That gets rid of most of what the S.E.C. should be doing. I know the SEC was just too busy to prosecute Solyndra or MF Global executives, but now they have time.
Close the EPA and the FAA. Other countries don’t have them or need them. We can’t afford them any longer. I Guess congressmen’s children will have to find real summer jobs next year. Well, we all have to sacrifice something.
Mister President, we don’t need your help in health, medicine or education. Now we’re getting somewhere without the Department of Education!
Just trying to help you, Mr. President. If your oval office job remains too hard, then ask retired Representative Ron Paul for advice. I’m sure Ron can make your difficult job even simpler; make it into something more your size.
Mister President, this should finally leave you with enough time for golf and a vacation.
I suspect that much of our presidents resistance to smaller government is that smaller government also leaves less room for government graft and high paying lobbying jobs. That isn’t why we sent him there.
