Stayin’ Alive in Boston
April 23, 2013
I mentioned first responders at the Boston Marathon bombing here. I said doctors can perform miracles, and they did. Dr. George Velmahos is chief of trauma surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has 31 blast patients. He said, “All I feel is joy. Whoever came in alive, stayed alive.”
Thank you EMTs and trauma doctors. The road to recovery is long. Many will survive but never recover due to loss of limbs. These medical professionals gave patients that chance of life and recovery. Remember this achievement. This may be the peak of American medicine before Obamacare and rationing.
