Hovering Angels- We All Need Heroes
.
Retired Major General Pat Brady flew rescue helicopters in Vietnam. The General was awarded the Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross. He flew into active combat zones and rescued thousands. The General named Staff Sergeant James Pappy Coleman as his hero. Brady explained,
“A celebrity is someone you want to meet. A hero is someone you want to be like.
“A hero must first be a good man, and Pappy Coleman is a very good man.”
Even Major Generals who’ve won the Medal of Honor needs heroes. Sergeant Coleman was a helicopter medic in the Vietnam war. The Sergeant jumped out of rescue helicopters and loaded the injured. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Silver Star three times.

The Medal of Honor page is subtitled lessons of personal bravery and self-sacrifice. The page includes lesson plans that might fit well if you home school.
I need to be reminded that there are men of virtue.
