Dying in a Gun-Free Zone
Evil people victimize the innocent. Helpless people are their first targets, and I wish it only happened somewhere else or during some other time. I don’t like it, but violence remains an ugly fact of human nature. It seems that disarmed peaceful citizens are an irresistible target for extremists and thieves. It happened in our past and we think the past is behind us. Even today, the houses of Nigerian Christians are set on fire at night. The occupants are hacked to death with machetes as they run from their burning homes. Their churches are bombed. Take a hard look at this world without guns.
Please don’t look away. See what it looks like when the weak cannot defend themselves from the strong. This is what happens when a small gang with knives can kill family after family. See this for what it is and learn from what you see. Thousands die each year in Nigeria and Somalia.
This is the 21st century version of the American race war of the 1870s and 1920s. A hundred years ago we had white southern Democrats of the Klu Klux Klan attacking disarmed American Freedmen, Catholics and Jews. Today the victims are disarmed Nigerian Christians. Even today we have the same violent results in Chicago where honest citizens are disarmed on the street and drug gangs own the night. In Chicago, thousands are shot and over 500 died from gunshots last year.
I blame evil men. I also blame good men who leave their brothers to be helpless victims. Though they claim otherwise, those who want civilians disarmed asked for these atrocities. This is what I see and hear when my politicians demand we take guns from honest citizens.
It should never happen here. Do not allow it to happen again. Never again!
